According to the decision of the UN General Assembly, since 2008, April 2 has been celebrated worldwide as World Autism Awareness Day. Autism is a complex neurological developmental disorder that affects the normal functioning of the brain, hindering the development of social relationships and communication skills. It ranks among the undiscovered diseases of the 20th century.
On May 2, 2017, the Day Care and Treatment Centre for Autism was launched in Artsakh with the joint efforts of Howard Karagyozyan MBNGO, Jinishian Memorial Foundation, Artsakh Republic Government and The Caroline Cox Rehabilitation Centre in Artsakh. The centre provides its services and ensures the quality of life of about 72 or more children. It is implemented through the unification of the collective forces of specialists, with the direct participation of a doctor, special pedagogue, psychologist, speech therapist, nanny, physiotherapist, ergotherapist and social worker.
This day is a good opportunity to once again inform the public that there are people diagnosed with Autism who need attention and love.
The advice of the day consists in the fact that we all understand and accept that people with Autism live in a different, kinder world. They give love and want to receive love. Our love will make a big difference in the lives of people with Autism…
