One of the patients at the Rehabilitation Centre is 11-year-old Mariam, who recently applied to the Centre for treatment. Mariam is from the village of Ukhtadzor in the Hadrut region but they lost their place of residence due to the war and are temporarily staying in one of the state-provided hotels in Stepanakert.
Mariam has a diagnosis of cerebral palsy. At the Rehabilitation Centre she receives the services of a physiotherapist, psychologist, speech therapist, and she enjoys taking part in painting and pottery classes.
As Mariam has a problem with swallowing and tongue muscle tension, so the speech therapist works on the development of her drinking and chewing functions. Also, with the help of therapeutic physical culture we try to stretch short muscles, strengthen weak muscles, and develop a sitting balance.
Appropriate transportation is provided to Mariam to get to the Rehabilitation Centre to get back home. The centre’s driver brings her for treatment every day and takes her back home. The Rehabilitation Centre is always by the side of its patients. We try our best to provide them with proper treatment.
