The Rehabilitation Centre pays great attention to people at home who have a disability or are physically limited. Such people sometimes do not want to be exposed by isolating themselves from the outside world and thereby harming themselves. The other day, a young man applies to The Rehabilitation Centre who wants to get a wheelchair for his brother and then reports he has two brothers with disabilities who are constantly at home. The Rehabilitation Centre team visited the Arstamyan family right away, who live in the village of Aygestan in the Askeran region. The reality was a bit harsh: the two brothers of this family have been diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, while they have been home for more than twenty years without medical intervention which has further complicated their physical condition. Harut, 25, and Karen, 23, spend most of the day at home playing computer games and social networking. Unlike Harut, Karen does not sit in a wheelchair but is in a semi-sitting position all day, as a result of which his muscles are completely shortened. The Arstamyan family of five is under the care of their father as they lost their mother years ago. They live in poor social conditions; according to their father though, they have to move to a new apartment provided by the state these days. After long discussions the older brother agreed to bring them to the Rehabilitation Centre for the necessary treatment. The team of the Rehabilitation Centre is ready to help the brothers as much as possible, to provide rehabilitation and psychological treatment trying to integrate them into society and to improve their quality of life.
