The number of people with disabilities is growing day by day, and at the same time there is a demand to create places where people with different physical problems can improve their health as much as possible. The Caroline Cox Rehabilitation Center has been dealing with the health problems of people with disabilities for many years. The creation of the center provided an opportunity for many young people to rediscover the path that leads to a new life, full of multicolored colors.
3-year-old Arsen, who has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, started attending a rehabilitation center in 2000. These years were full of trials for Arsen և for his mother, but at the same time full of new expectations and expectations. Years of hard work և therapies led to the fact that today Arsen is able to walk, swim, play sports and work with the help of crutches. The rehabilitation center was not just a treatment center for Arsen, where he could come and be treated, but a second home, where everyone had been close for a long time, they were waiting with love, receiving the grown boy in front of their eyes.
A boy who dreamed of living, educating, working, who did not look at people’s surprised looks, did not listen to gossip, did not pay attention to the obstacles that stood in his way. The lack of ramps in Stepanakert, the difficulties of using transport in front of his goals were nothing; they could not prevent him from studying, working, enjoying the pleasures of life.
He graduated from the “Russian language” department of the Mesrop Mashtots University. In 2015-2018 Arsen attended the Tumo Center in Stepanakert, took web programming and photo courses. During those years, Arsen continued his treatment at the rehabilitation center, during which he decided to put his knowledge into practice and started working as a volunteer at the rehabilitation center. During that time he met the famous English photographer Paul Mellor, thanks to whose seminars Arsen is now able to digitize old photos and create the necessary images.
2018 was a promising year for Arsen, at the suggestion of Vardan Tadosyan, the director of the Rehabilitation Center, Arsen was hired as a statistician and continues to work there to this day.
In the future, he wants to go deeper into programming; why not? He wants to get a master’s degree.
Arsen is very grateful to the director of the rehabilitation center Vardan Tadjosyan, to the whole staff, who gave him the opportunity to look at life with different eyes, to achieve more, to stand firm in his place. All those who were always by his side supported and encouraged him, especially his mother, through whose efforts Arsen was able to climb the ladder of life, to reach today, being a worthy child.
Arsen is one of those people who can be a vivid example for the whole world, who, thanks to a lot of suffering, was able to stand up and find his own self. His journey is a long story, full of difficulties and despair, but his path was clearly to reach heights, to enjoy life.
